LABORATORY TESTING
Testing should underpin any responsible worm control programme as it allows us to identify which individuals are likely to contribute to environmental contamination with parasite eggs and target treatments with wormers accordingly. This will allow us to only use wormers when absolutely necessary.

We provide all of the currently recommended testing services for horses with a variety of delivery methods including in-store, site-visits and postal. If you’re local, pop in-store or if you’re a bit further afield, order a postal kit!
If you're a livery owner or manager: For 10+ horses, book a site-visit for ease of collection and processing.
For Veterinary Practices, we can provide laboratory time for the processing of your client's routine worm egg count and resistance test samples.

ROUTINE WORM EGG COUNTS
Check your horse's risk of re-contaminating your pastures with redworm and roundworm eggs with a worm egg count.
Routine worm egg counts are recommended roughly every 3 months in adult horses to check the risk of pasture contamination from individual horses. This allows us to target treatments accordingly.
Worm egg counts provide a 'snap-shot' of your horse's potential parasite burden but cannot detect any migrating larval stages.

RESISTANCE TESTING
2 weeks following treatment with a wormer, get a resistance test carried out. This is another worm egg count which is compared with the original result and gives us an idea of how well the treatment administered worked, allowing us to identify any potential resistance.
Included as standard with all routine worm egg counts or wormers (excluding products only for tapeworm) purchased.
