ABOUT US
Target Worm Counts was founded in 2014 predominately offering a mobile faecal worm egg counting service for horses, carrying out onsite analysis of samples. We provide yard visits within the Gloucestershire, Gwent and surrounding areas.
We pride ourselves on providing our customers with all the necessary resources to enable them to implement a responsible worm control program. Education and research are our key motivations, to contribute to the scientific knowledge to improve control programmes and advice further and effectively disseminate the advice to those who need it.
CHLOE DIX
Managing Director: BSc (Hons), R-SQP
Chloe graduated with a 1st Class Honours Degree from the University of Gloucestershire in 2015 and is currently embarking on an MSc by Research. She has a passion for educating and helping animal owners on the best practice of sustainable worm control. This dedication was recognised when she was awarded the OverTheCounter Equine SQP of the Year 2016 and 2017.
Her research interests include the identification of risk factors for increased parasitic infection in horses.

WHO ARE WE REGULATED BY?
AMTRA
The Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority
AMTRA is an independent regulatory body whose task it is to ensure that the prescription and supply of VPS animal medicines in the UK is undertaken in a responsible manner by AMTRA qualified persons.

Under the Veterinary Medicines Regulations AMTRA is the body appointed by the Secretary of State to keep a register of Suitably Qualified Persons. AMTRA's tasks include:
working with Harper Adams University to develop and maintain a qualification syllabus at Higher Education Level 4 which meets the needs of SQPs and the requirements of the Secretary of State
working with training centres to support course provision
provision of information and advice to SQPs
maintenance of the Register of SQPs
monitoring and accreditation of continuing professional development for SQPs
regulation of professional conduct (including powers to suspend registration or strike off the Register for misconduct)
VMD
Veterinary Medicines Directorate
The VMD is the governmental department responsible for promoting animal health and welfare by assuring the safety, quality and efficacy of veterinary medicines.

Before an SQP can supply prescription only medicines, the VMD must carry out a premises inspection to ensure correct storage of products and processes in place to fulfill legal record requirements at time of supply to a customer.

Inspectors carry out periodical inspections to ensure that SQPs and businesses are operating lawfully with regards to the supply of prescription only medicines.
AHDA
Animal Health Distributors Association
AHDA is an association that is made up of animal health product distributors throughout the UK. The main mission of AHDA is to protect the right of SQPs to supply prescription only medicines that do not require a veterinary diagnosis.
AHDA host an annual conference which aims to educate Animal Health Professionals on advancements in policy, best practice and develop other skills such as customer relations to allow SQPs to provide advice that is of the highest standard.
